Ross & Associates helps clients with information management and information strategy needs. We support large- and small-scale information management projects that span needs assessments, strategic information planning, evaluation of data needs and system requirements, development of data standards and data sharing protocols, information governance, and decision-making support. We assist clients with their needs by using many leading edge technology tools, including Web conferencing tools (GoToMeeting), on-line polling and prioritization, database and collaboration workspaces (MS Sharepoint), content management systems (Joomla, WordPress), Web 2.0 tools such as Wikis (MediaWiki) and blogs, and graphics and mapping technologies.

EPA Exchange Network

Since 1999, Ross & Associates has worked to conceptualize, plan, and implement the Environmental Information Exchange Network, which is a nationwide partnership among states, tribes, and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency for exchanging environmental information efficiently and securely over the Internet. Partners use the Network to fulfill their regulatory information exchange responsibilities, to support complex multi-media environmental solution, and to provide high quality information to the public.

Environmental Public Health Tracking

For many years, Ross & Associates has supported the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention National Center for Environmental Health in their development of a National Environmental Public Health Tracking Network (Tracking Network). The Tracking Network is a partnership among CDC, state and local health agencies, and universities to support the collection, integration, analysis, interpretation, presentation, and dissemination of data on environmental hazards, exposure, and related health effects.

Washington Department of Health Community Health Assessment Information System

Ross & Associates develop an online survey that was sent out to all the Local Health Jurisdictions (LHJs) in Washington State. The survey results were analyzed based on the population served by the LHJs and their existing infrastructure and policies to provide a holistic picture of the different public user communities and needs in the state.

Western Climate Initiative

Western Climate Initiative websiteThe Western Climate Initiative (WCI) is a regional collaboration of seven U.S. states and four Canadian provinces working together to establish a regional, economy-wide approach to reducing greenhouse gas emissions. This comprehensive initiative includes a cap-and-trade program along with other complementary policies, to support meeting regional reduction goals for greenhouse gas emissions (15 percent reduction from 2005 levels by 2020). Since 2008, Ross & Associates has supported the WCI Partners, under contract to the Western Governors’ Association (the overall Program Manager for the WCI). As part of this support, Ross & Associates conducted a website redesign for WCI in 2009.

Tahoe Regional Planning Authority Monitoring and Evaluation Information System

Ross & Associates developed a content management system to enable the TRPA to share the status of its environmental monitoring indicators with stakeholders and the public. The system is designed to allow the program manager to add new content and modify existing content with little or no programming experience and is designed to be used by non-technical users.

Ross & Associates helped clarify business needs, define information management system requirements, and prototype information management practices for the Association of State and Territorial Solid Waste Management Officials (ASTSWMO), a non-profit organization that works to promote effective state waste management programs and influence national waste management policies.
