Ross & Associates has deep experience helping clients to manage complex challenge related to waste management and cleanup. Waste minimization and the management of hazardous materials hold enormous importance for the health and productivity of the earth’s environment, with both immediate and long term risks. Our firm’s work includes helping federal and state agencies address regulatory requirements related to the management of hazardous waste, improving communication and coordination between state and federal agencies on the cleanup of radioactive waste, documenting national trends in waste generation and management, and helping to develop new waste minimization and materials use/reuse strategies. Our projects involve strategic planning, stakeholder facilitation, and new program development, as well as on site- and sector-specific cleanup and waste management projects.

RCRA 2020 Vision

Ross & Associates supported all aspects of a state/EPA collaboration to develop a new vision for the future of the national waste prevention and management program administered under the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA). The first phase of work culminated in 2002 with issuance of a new 20-year vision that calls for EPA and the states to move beyond traditional end-of-life management approaches to reinvent waste programs using a lifecycle thinking and a sustainable materials-management approach. Coeur d’Alene Cleanup Citizens Coordination

Ross & Associates has provided long-term support for establishing and sustaining a local commission to oversee the cleanup of the Coeur d’Alene Basin, a Superfund site in Northern Idaho. Currently, Ross & Associates is providing third-party neutral facilitation support to the Citizens Coordinating Council, a citizens advisory group established to support and provide guidance to the Basin Commission Board.

Association of State and Territorial Solid Waste Management Officials (ASTSWMO)

Ross & Associates helped clarify business needs, define information management system requirements, and prototype information management practices for the Association of State and Territorial Solid Waste Management Officials (ASTSWMO), a non-profit organization that works to promote effective state waste management programs and influence national waste management policies.
